Why You Should Listen

The Barùkas Nut (also referred to as baru nuts in Brazil) has been described as a mix of almond, cashew and peanut – only better – and with less calories. Barùkas nuts are extremely nutrient rich. They have 6g of protein per serving, more fiber than any other nut, loads of magnesium and other health-boosting minerals, more antioxidant power than any other nut.

In addition, they represent an amazing opportunity to reforest our planet, and sustain indigenous communities on their land.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Seth’s background and how and why he started Barùkas

  • The unique qualities of the Barùkas nut

  • Why no one managed to commercialize production and distribution of the Barùkas nut until now

  • The strategies Seth and Barùkas are using to build a market for this nut

  • Applications for the Barùkas nut and potential for it to be turned into a plant-based milk, butter and beyond

  • His goals for the company and the impact Seth hopes to make with Barùkas

Besides being a fascinating and insightful conversation about food, health and sustainability, there are a lot of interesting lessons about launching a business and developing a go-to-market strategy.
